I see that you are from Maine. That is not the best area for a trucker to live. It could have as much or more to do with your residence than your felony. You didn't mention the nature of the conviction, but if it is related to drugs, it could be somewhat problematic. Have you checked with your local state employment office? Have you checked with any of the logging companies?

Maine isn`t really a bad place to be a trucker, i live a few hrs up from him and there`s all kinds of companies that hire out of here. The problems are he`s new and has a felony that`s really not that old. Here`s what I think. Stay away from the big guys, no hope for a couple more years. Start knockin on doors, any door. Think fish, garbage or trees, Yarmouth lumber is looking. hit jobs in me dot com. See a place with a ratty old truck. offer to fix it up for a chance. Keep knockin just think small. There`s a pile of them on craigslist too. Good luck man!

Much appreciated. My felony was for Sale of a Controlled drug. I just happened to be caught up in the middle of a sting that was aimed at somebody who happened to work for me. I have no problem explaining what happened and I acknowledge that it was a VERY stupid mistake that I caused and I personally put myself in the middle of. If somebody would even have the courtesy to call, I can explain it alot better than what it looks like on paper as I fill in the blanks. I did this to myself, nobody to blame but dear ol me. If not for the world being run by the insurance industry, somebody might be more willing to at least speak to me.
As far as being from Maine, I am right on the NH border. There are quite a few companies that operate out of here, just being new doesn't seem to help me at all either. Oh well, I'll keep on plugging away. Thanks again for your responses, I'll let you know if/when somebody takes a shot at me. Hopefully it will be long before I need "Retraining".

I'm sorry to say this, but a felony for selling drugs seems very serious and if I was going to put someone in a 80k truck (plus cargo), someone with a drug conviction would be far down this list. From the employers standpoint they could face losing the truck and cargo if there were another incident.
I know you indicated it was an isolated situation, but looking at it from their point of view, why take the chance when there are likely candidates available that don't pose the same risk.
I'm not judging you, but trying to look at it from the employer's point of view. -
