Yes, let's add more taxes and fees that will get added to the costs of the stuff we buy. What a bunch of idiots.
Brickman Thanks this. -
I am about ready to sell everything I own, rent, and go on welfare. Every time I turn around it's something new.
I buy a house, there is a transfer tax, then yearly property tax. if I improve the house then the taxes go up. Every few years they revalue the house and the taxes go up. If the county wants more money, raise the property tax.
I have to keep my house insured. I need replacemant cost, which cost more, because if it is partially destroyed, meaning a wall is still standing, then it is only 75% destroyed, then only 75% of face value is paid back.
Same with cars. Title transfer, county and state taxes when bought, county property taxes each year, all based on value. Now this state wants to add a tax for exery mile driven each year that is calculated by the mileage shown driven at the yearly state vehicle inspection.
Since I have a house, a few cars and some commercial property, I need to carry more expensive car and property insurance. This is because if someone gets hurt in a wreck or on my property, and my insurance limits are too low, they sue me and take everything I own. This, while the person who owns nothing takes out the cheapest insurance needed to get a car tag, and maybe renters insurance if they are smart. These insurance types are quite a few hundred, to thousands of dollars a year less.
Who cares if it is not enough to cover an accident. If you have nothing, and no credit, what are they going to sue for and get?
It gets down to this. The people in this country that try to have something are the ones being bled to death. I'm not too sure it's worth it any more.
As much as I have paid out in property taxes, insurance, and auto fees this year, my wife and myself have really considered selling out and leasing. I have just sold the most expensive SUV I had because of insurance and taxes. More may be to come.
I just had to rant on this. I have read more articles on here lately where the governments are bleeding those of us who try hard to have something dry.Last edited: Feb 6, 2009
