Need help understanding stuck on stupid. Been a driver 1 year to learn to be a trucker. Worse job of my life eating from a gas station, being told what to do, being told what to make, being treated like scum to everyone in society. Low and behold the happiest drivers are those who own their own equipment, authority and have a routine or niche. They are getting $$ the most also. Don't tell me FedEx drivers make more because I worked there for 12 years in operations mgt and trust me they are all VERY miserable... So the stuck on stupid part is what I need help to understand. Unless of course you enjoy a small paycheck driving as a company man with insurance, yes I totally compromise on that. However 70 or 80% of drivers are miserable. Back in the day 60,70, 80 and some 90's trucking was independent and a driver was his own mechanic and took BS from no one. Maybe this was because of Jimmy Hoffa's influence, but nowadays drivers suck from a nipple. So.. Just curious.

I thought I started the thread with "I need help understanding" ... So I can redundantly ask the question again or you can pitch in your 2 cents? Or maybe you aren't as insightful, its okay too.

OK. Instead of being a cry out baby #####ing here of life misery go get your authority and a niche that comes with it.

Well I can give an insight but I would only be repeating what everyone else said. You clearly don't want to try to understand other people's point of view. You must have been an owner operator for less than a year.

    Tb0n3 Thanks this.

Bryan I appreciate your honesty but for clarity our only enemy is ignorance. Our opinion isn't actually in conflict, we are just fighting the misunderstanding.

Why do I lease on with a company? Probably won't help you "understand", but here goes.

The MAIN reason is, I drop the load, send in the paperwork and I'm paid in 15 minutes to 2 hours. On occasion, it may take 3 or 4 hours. I don't have to call the customer or broker and beg/bribe/threaten them to get my money 6 months later. No hiring lawyers to get paid. Nope, the company worries about that. My stress level stays down that way.

And one perk most don't think about, I get a really good discount on fuel. Do your math. Figure out how much you spend (pump pricing) for one year. Now, how much would be in your bank account if you paid 30 or more cents per gallon less? Maybe the folks running their own numbers can get discounts too. But I'm led to believe that to not be the case.

He is a waste of time. He is entitled to a niche and happiness. He knows everything already. F. it I am out of here.

I'm not fighting the misunderstanding. You are. It's one thing if you buy your own truck and sign on with a company. It's another thing to do the fleece purchase. While some have been successful in doing the fleece, that should be where your real misunderstanding is. That's where the companies can hustle drivers. High truck notes? Convincing drivers with no capital to do this scam? Taking advantage of people with no business sense? Your question should be rerouted
