    Doin' that potash deal.

Quick question for my hopper bottom friends, and it's something that I keep getting asked but don't have an answer for, and can't find anyone with an answer, what is the difference between on gates or on slopes?

Every place I load always asks, and I always answer, whichever is easier. What, if any, difference does it make? Something about pressure on the gate?

Ok I always load the slopes first, then pull or back up to the gate. It seems to axle out easier and ride better. Some trailers have rollers under the gates. In my mind it's hard on my gate the sudden rush of material being dumpd right on it. That however is strictly opinion with no evidence to back it up. I always start between first and second bow pile it up till it quits sloping off and just likes then pull up to between 2/3 bow and do the same to 18 on the gauge if I'm loading legal. Then pull all the way to back and back up as nessacary to 64 on the gauge. Course you gotta be level

I ain’t done a whole lot of hopperin, but I feel the same way @wore out does about the gates. They just don’t seem like they’d hold up long term if you hit them with material every load. Lot more fragile than the valves on your pneumatic.

Trying the truck wash at Pauls Valley for the first time. I’ve heard mixed reviews so we’ll see what we get.

The guy I talked to spoke English (barely), and translated to the other guys. I hope they understood. Cuz if they put acid on my LED headlights, they bought em.

Something I been thinkin bout @wore out is running an air line from the trailer bags to the front and putting a quick connect on so I can plumb it to a gauge on the dash. Right next to the tractor bag gauge. That way I can see both gauges simultaneously so even if I’m not level I can still get in the ballpark.

    Whatcha think?
