Use the map, it tells all.

But yeah, they aren't very communicative at times.

Sorry it took so long to post checks; i've been busy as hell; Like the company i work for, i've taken on more than i can handle.

    1) Note that on the weeks where i only made $1,100 ish, i took a day off that week.

    2) We do not have the P+D city position anymore; Instead we just have P drivers; This is because things are so F'd up, there is barely enough time to make the pickups and even then we miss quite a few (which, in turn p#@$@# off the customer, but we don't care about the customer----we only care about their money, and numbers, more on this later). Any actual deliveries you make are a bonus. Also, we don't care about residential customers----we are late on most, if not all appointments. In addition to being late, there is a high chance of damage to the residential customer's freight.
Thus, if you enjoy stressed out rushing around, with little chance of making your appointments, then this is the gig for you. (now you know where i get the name Rushin' Rabbit...........)

    3) i believe upper and top "management" to be out-of-touch and/or delusional/and or at least acting like numbskulls. As such, the middle managers/ terminal managers have no choice but to impose these unrealistic, and out-of-touch demands on the workers. It's a crapstorm to say the least...........moral isn't too good. i would not say the situation is "toxic" yet, but it's a crapstorm.

    4) We have ceased being a freight company. We are now a numbers company. i feel a large part of the problem is that a large number of "management" have never driven a truck, much less even ridden in one.

    More later.

    5) If you order something that must be shipped freight----such as a tool cabinet, auto parts etc. AND have a choice of carrier, i would suggest R+L or Old dominion----because they'll get it out to you reasonably quickly.

UPSF on the other hand, we'll get it to you WHEN we get to it; If you make an appointment with us, you might as well go ahead to work that day or do whatever you need to do; If we make an appointment with you say from 2-6, then we'll be there AFTER 6:30PM----sometimes 8 or 9pm. And then there may be damage.

    H. Cochran slept on floors to build this company and look what we've done with it..........

How can a group of, for the most part, decent people be so stupid?

RR, I've seen the same thing on the railroad. Last project I worked, for a very respected company, has an outward rep like UPS, the people I worked for all had less than 3 years experience compared to my over-20. And they were in charge of big things, blithely doing stuff in an oblivious way because the culture is now sibling, the old guys who knew better and had almost been squashed are now retired and gone.

Much more comfortable without all that legacy knowledge around to wag its finger.

Sounds like UPSF needs a crisis to get re-aligned. And ODFL looks like that crisis to me. They are very confident about their growth and the worthiness of their higher rates. They carefully route stuff so it is handled as little as possible to prevent damage. Minutely careful at every step. The offices are clean.

UPS has been a pandemonium-based company long as I can recall, stuff-n-run and sort it out later, including denying damages. Do everything fast as possible, yet always late. They've wrecked more stuff for me than all other delivery companies combined. It's why I have Fedex and USPS accounts and not a UPS one.

All that ODFL, Estes, R+L, Dayton, Fedex, etc have to do is do better than that. UPSF is making it easy.

i'm freight. For drivers, Top rate is $28.65 per hour and if doing linehaul .72cpm. i'll be moving to that rate in about 2 weeks, knock on wood..........

The new contract proposal, and this is just a proposal at this point is: A driver just being hired now would start off at $17.70. Then, when you make senority (that's 45 working days.), $18. Second year, $20, Third year $23, Fourth year $25.50 and top rate $28.65. So, that's a little better than what we have now, which is $17.40 start, senority $17.70, second year $18.70, third year $20, fourth year $24, top rate $28.65
