Cummins fixed most of their EGR valve issues.....most of them. Still happens some. Cummins seem to burn more DEF in our fleet, and to me feel less powerful when they are supposed to be spec'd the same. Both need a new DPF around 500,000.

I don't know if it is isolated to detroits. Idling these EPA10(+) trucks for extended peroids of time is problematic for the engine and probably more so the aftertreatment systems.

That is a toss up.
Had a '13 Cascadia with a Cummins that was plagued with electrical demons. Had a '13 with a DD15 same program never an issue.
Next program had it exactly the opposite. The DD15 was a nightmare and the Cummins ran like a champ if a little weaker.
I would suggest looking at records for individual trucks, than relying on a blanket statement about Cummins V Detroit.

I’m trying to stay at 40k max and am not really partial to any brand,but the Cascadia’s seemed to be priced right and plenty of them.But the more I read and see things like 1box,wiring harnesses,and sensors going bad and how expensive the fixes are, I wonder if I should rule out the Cascadia.

All trucks are like that. They require MAINTENANCE, it's not a one and done type of thing. You have to look and poke and prod and wonder,"what if?"

I am good at maintaining my own equipment and also a hands on type of person.I have maintained my hotshot trucks for the last four years and they have never been touched by a mechanic.As far as emissions systems I have dealt with some of the problems that come with them, and have deleted them once the warranty was over.I also look forward to working on a bigger truck with all the clearance that they have compared to a pickup.

I would buy a truck with Cummins cm2350 . before buying it top cover must be taken off and camshaft must be inspected. if its not worn then it means truck was not on 50k oil change interval. I would replace fuel pump's plungers every 350k miles. it's much better engine than dd15. my friend has them and only nox sensors have been changed on trucks and dpf filters in past 3 years.
