Not stepping on my toes. We should ban the Canadian carriers as well. I see many more of them in my neck of the woods than our 'partners' from the south. Of course their rates and driver/equip standards are much closer to ours, but both moves would decrease the supply of trucks and raise rates for a while.

Guys, I said I took it thinking I could fill it out and make it a decent load with a partial... just couldn't find anything worth hauling and didn't want to sit the weekend. Time is money too... so I'll look for a partial en route.

Did I mention I got 6.69 MPG for the 1st thousand miles with this 11,000 lb load??? Best Mileage ever! HAHAHA

I read in a Canadian trucking magazine that a higher number of Canadian trucks are running empty into the U.S. to pick up freight .

Ok so while this post asks the relative question I am looking to ask, I see it was mainly answered a couple of years ago.
So I live in Ohio and want to run Midwest to east no NY city, ME, CT, NH, MD. One out and back a week or so. Where would I be looking at generally speaking and what do you guys think would be good back haul areas? Is gettin an avg $2/mile hard to do?Last edited: Mar 8, 2012

Unfortunatly, there are 4 trucks to every load. So really the way to curb this is for fuel prices to spike around $5/gal. This will weed out alot of trucks. Many small fleets and some larger ones with big debt will go bankrupt as well as some O/O's. It's not what people would like to hear but it's a natural process that needs to take place. Just don't be the one with a heavy burden of debt and you will be ok.Motownfire Thanks this.

I dont think youve got to worry about us stealing your "good freight".
I sent an american who works for us to baltimore from here last week.
He wanted to go to florida (I had freight there waiting) so I looked for a load for him. I was offered $1.10 - $1.65 a mile from american brokers.
Ended up loading him for a customer I usually come north for, for $2.20.
Point is, the reason the rates down there are so terrible, is that some of you are willing to haul for them.
Its like everyone always preaches just say no to cheap freight!
