Week One in school is finally over. We're in 2 bedroom apartments on campus with 4 people to a unit. They are fully furnished with cable tv, wifi, washer/dryer and a full kitchen with refrigerator, stove, and microwave. This is a pretty fast-paced course, come prepared to study. So far: Pre-Trip Inspection with Air Brakes, Hours of Service/ Log Book, Rail Road Crossings, straight-line backing, parallel; parking (sight side and conventional) and off-set parking and several road trips driving around town. Wal-Mart, etc is only about 2 miles away, so you can get stuff via the shuttle or classmates with cars.

Yes, three meals a day Monda-Friday, on weekends it's a brunch and dinner. You can get 2nds if you want, you just can't take food out of the dining hall except for ice cream. Yes, the trucks are all automatics. Not a big deal because most large companies are also going with automatics these days. My class has 14 students, so it works out to about 3 students per truck. All of the instructors have 10 plus years of experience.
