You definitely don’t want to do that. The air intake for the Espar heater is in that gap.
Incidentally, if you keep getting overheat error codes for your Espar or Webasto, it is because dust bunnies have plugged up the air intake -
I think they were made for places like Ogden, UT. They use president names for street names and they are NOT in chronological order... Whoever they thought were the cutest I suppose.
