dont know how it goes in USA, but here something like this would be impossible, first frames on new trucks are wider to allow larger radiator to be installed, cabs are often raised to allow better air flow. all body paneling, bumper, steps, fenders are modified to allow better air flow.
how about space for exhaust unit?
think about position of auxiliary equipment, how to place steering pump and steering column,
i think it would be nearly impossible to find someone who would make electrics for it.
it should be checked if gearbox position is in same place for both engines.

Seems bass ackwards. What year is truck?
Brettj3876, daf105paccar and drdesl Thank this. -
As DAF mentioned I had looked into it because I was trying to find a way to make an older Argosy Cali. legal, that seemed like the easiest solution to me, HOWEVER, as mentioned they would be a LOT of component issues, I did talk to Kustom Truck in Oregon, to be honest I don't remember what they said, but if any body can build you a harness that would be my first call, they are pretty straight shooters. I guess the question no one asked is, "if" you are going this route, newer engine into older chassis, are you keeping all of the associated emissions hardware or are you going with a deleted engine, just curious as I can see trying to find places for all of the emissions hardware a real deal breaker, JMHO.
Tug Toy, 98989 and daf105paccar Thank this. -
Well I'm assuming the whole reason to put a newer engine in an older chassis is the be cali legal. So then why would you then turn around and delete the emissions equipment off the newwer engine????
Sounds like a wiring nightmare to me. Just because of all the emissions BS .Brettj3876, KANSAS TRANSIT and Oldironfan Thank this. -
True, but I was just asking, never know what someone's intentions are until you hear it from them?swaan Thanks this.

The swap would retain all emissions components. CARB is not allowing DMV to register CMV's that are not compliant.
So 3 options
Sell and buy compliant CMV
Retrofit dpf at 15k but only good till 2020
Swap complaint low NoX motor -
4th option convert to cng.
Something else I've read a bit on is "lean burn" tuning or something. -
Question to OP:
Which version S60 are we talking about?
DDEC4/5/6?
Converting to DD15 with complete operational aftertreatment (DOC/DPF/DEF) will be a major project.
DDEC4 and 5 still used a single engine ECU, DDEC6 uses separate CPC and MCM, vehicle ECU and engine ECU, which communicate to each other through CAN.
DD15 (DDEC10) uses CPC, MCM and separate aftertreatment ECU (ACM), sensor box on the aftertreatment itself, and aftertreatment meterin unit. All with interconnecting harnesses and CAN-busses.
I compared (parts of) wiring diagrams for DDEC5, DDEC6 and DDEC10 (2010 DD engine)
Wiring and CAN-bus structures on DDEC10 are very different from the older DDEC6, and certainly DDEC4/5.
Not only will you have to replace the engine, and control modules, but you will also have to add/replace the complete aftertreatment (including controllers), DEF tank, DEF pump, DEF lines, coolant lines for DEF heating, etc, etc.
Not saying that it can't be done, but it will be a really big, expensive and time consuming challenge, and if not done properly will most probably lead to disappointment.
