I think somebody needs to take away my logbook ruler.I might try to hurt myself.
It is very tough out there for people to break into this industry. However,no one should have to endure the abuse that this driver did.
Seriously,if sites like this were around in 1979,I doubt I would be driving a truck today. All the doom and gloom, bad company's,filthy drivers, lousy lying dispatchers and low pay..All of this info has been posted in thread after thread...It makes me wonder why anybody would want to do it.....
I can understand wanting to follow your dream, but at what price.
I bought my first truck in 1979 at age 20 because no one would give a punk kid a chance to follow his dream. So I found a company that took a chance on me and showed me the ropes.
These times are way different now and this could never happen again this way..
But knowing that there are alot of people out there that really want to get into trucking,[just like I did],this does not give these lousy companys the right to treat these wannabes like dirt.
I'm out. I think I dislocated my typing finger...Lonesome and Vickster O Thank this. -
You don't know the first thing about me.... I've dispatched for 3 different companies, been on many roadtrips... but I have no need or desire to explain my career choices to you.
Get through training and mentor, huh? Do you know the definition of mentor? Here, I'll help you out.... 'a suitably experienced person, who is willing and able to act as a confidential helper and guide to another engineer, to stimulate professional development and make it more effective'. I had no mentor, sweetheart.
As for your chauvinistic comment on women having no business driving a truck, you're entitled to your opinion; everyone is. As for your telling me to "go back to the office".... you know where YOU can go!
Lilbit, Winchester, Lonesome, Kinghunter, bigblue19, and all of the other intelligent, ethical people out there with common sense and dignity that supported me in my situation, thank you!!
I spoke with the Fedex Custom Critical boss today, and everything seems to be good to go. The qualification process takes some time, but we went over what was on my DAC and everything was fine. It's a good thing 'truckincold' doesn't have the same attitude as this 'leadfoot' person does, and trusts me enough to team with him, regardless of my gender. He's a super-nice guy and I have no doubt that he'll be an awesome trainer! I'm VERY fortunate that he contacted me!! We'll be teaming until my husband gets his 6 months experience, then joining with Fedex also and finally teaming together as we planned. It'll take some time, but well worth the wait, and very profitable in the end! -

luvtheroad Thanks this.

I did just fine driving rig, and got a lot of respect from almost all of the male drivers I met while driving. The few that have the same attitude aren't worth my time. -
