3 year work history at 21 years old

Comercial or residential construction?

 

The main thing is accounting for ALL time even the gaps most especially for post 9-11 record keeping. (To make sure you did not sneak off to Afghanistan to train to be a terrorist etc)

I had 50+ jobs in my life time, half of which no longer exists anymore. Out of business, closed etc. There is nothing to verify unless you pulled my life time wage history from Social Security which has a file on all working Americans earning any kind of wage with taxes taken out. (That's you.)

In my time my parents on half the family made a royal pain of themselves complaining I might work three jobs in a year. Or worse do blacktop paving in good weather and then take unemployment over winter because it's too cold to be doing that material. (I had that job for years) they hated it. It got to where I simply did not spend any more time around them in Maryland than I had to.

Most all of my employers did well with me in my time with the exception of three which I told stories several times in past posts. (Usually related to holding a current CDL A or Class A and being deaf etc.) One was a motor coach company owner who she did some real damage that day showing her discrimination. How am I supposed to keep track of 50 souls in a 55K pound bus across several states? Who is she to ask me that stupid question, we are here and talking nicely are we not? Another could not stand the idea that I worked with a trucking company delivering concrete by tanker to them and then applied to work as a CDL A Driver. They tell me I am over qualified while the view from the office window showed 18 low boys with tractors parked in the rain outside. Point point point. They turned beet red, then got angry when I defused that silly little position from them. A arkansas company in the same type of work hired me on the spot without challenge of my medical limitations as long I was able to do the work. Here in the south you get opportunities and a chance when the yankees up north will not. That is one big reason I enjoyed my time here.

You are 21. You are supposed to have a handful of employers by the time you hit 22. You will settle down soon enough and put in several years with one employer. That will look good on you. But you have to stick to it. The good with the bad.

You will be fine. You will be working until at least 62 lord willing, don't stress too much about having too many jobs or worry about gaps. Just tell them what you did in between work. For example I stopped working in 2005-2006 to be a caregiver to a spouse fighting cancer. I did some work as a crew boss once a month or so. Just a little something now and then. However to a employer today, it will be that and also being a medical patient more than anything with a team of doctors doing surgeries and what not trying to fix what can be fixed.

If you don't find any work somewhere here. Go somewhere else there and there will be work you like. It might have to cross a whole country of the USA to find it. But it is good to do it.

Chill buddy. From age 17 when I graduated until 21, I had at least 7 jobs. From 21-55 I've had 2. There's very few people who haven't done exactly the same thing,(unless they lived off Mom and Dad at college until they were 21) Lol. You're more employable than you think. You can pass a whizz quiz, your license is clean, and you seem to be a conscientious kid. I'd go by Chinatown's recommended companies from his post. Dude is like the sensei of this dojo. He is full of good advice! Good luck and don't get discouraged. It'll work out. It always does

 

Concrete work...you should be able to slap a person hard enough to kill him. Tough job. You will have an advantage on most people getting started in the biz.

You might do well in a flatbed gig.

 

It wouldn't hurt getting your w2. Some of these places aren't as black and white as they seem. Maybe the black and white says no, but you seem to have your stuff together, that can make a difference.

Measure twice cut once so to speak. Keep calling if you run into trouble!

 

If your employment can be verified by phone, then the company won't need the W-2's. But, if you have them available, keep them just in case.
