    Hey guys,

So I just got into a new 2019 Volvo 760, and I have a few questions about this RAMI splitter box setup.

I have my Bearcat 980SSB mounted, works well, SWR is 1.2 on ch 1 and 3.2 on ch 40. I know the stockers are too long, since they're like 5ft. I wanna run my 4ft tuneable tip firesticks, but the Volvo manual says not to change out the stock RAMI antenna's, as it will messup the TV and AM/FM stereo? I assume the Sirius XM radio is mixed in there somehow also.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks

Yeah what he said, the spread on the swr means that there is a serious issue with the splitter.

The last Volvo I drove was a 2015 670 and it only had one antenna on drivers side, that being said, I did install a Wilson 2000 and didnt experience any issues with am/fm radio or tv ( didnt have sirrius/xm) . How are you checking the swr, are you relying on the radio because the swr meter in my 980 is not accurate , but accurate or not, as Ridgeline stated there is something wrong to have that much of a difference from channel 1 to 40.

Volvo is fulla poop..Those folks know as much about ant and radio as the pope......Then again the pope gets better range than any radio..lol
Cant say for sure but i dont think there is any diff in a wilson or firestick or billy bobs ant vs factory..Only diff i think is quality and what its tuned for..

By pass all factory stuff with some good stuff but dont get a shorter ant....Run just drivers side ant but take off the pass side...
As for tv just pick up one of them hd stick on your window antenna and yer good to go..

When it comes to stereo, buy sirius and be done with it..

Thanks for all the replies guys!

I'm gonna check all the factory grounds/coax terminations to make-sure they're good. Them i'm gonna throw on the Firesticks and see how it works (Love those Antenna's). I'm pretty sure something is just loose, or one of the factory antenna's is broken; looks like it has a crack in it.

I was trying to avoid running all new stuff, to keep everything stock and clean looking. I was able to get the International LT, with the antenna's on the back of the cab to work; so I should be able to figure this out. What I might end up doing, is a single back of the sleeper mount, with some kinda K40, and just leave the stock stuff for the TV/Radio/SAT. Guess we will see how the fire stick experiment goes.

A cb ant on back wall of cab when pulling a dry van is a bad idea..To much ant reflect...Your signal is like you puttin a rock in a bucket and shaken it..It will work but kills range..
I know of a fella who has decient gear but can only get out 7/8 mi at best..Properly mounted ant with his gear should easily dbl that....He ended up needing/wanting an amp so he opted for 1800 watts...Now he is able to get out big time at the cost of amp repairs a few times a yr..

I had an ant on my cascadia and only got 7-10 mi on a good day now with proper ant for my application and better mount solution i can tripple that..
2 pics..one compares ant and second just shows the set up on my old cascadia

Gonna be fun tryin to tune a co phased/tv/radio antenna set up,hope its the tuneable tip vs wire cut....Dont forget to reinstall that tip cover after every adjustment..

Yea, the Firesticks, are no tools tuneable tips. I figure if I made them work on 2 Internationals, with the worst grounds ever, I can make this work lol.

Although both types of ground are needed most have ground plain issues vs electrical ground..
