I don't know which one you have but, tap the approve tab then in the upper right corner you'll or should see the edit tab it will the split and you can edit your on duty time.
Then you just need to enter a reason.
I allways just put forgot to switch.
I forgot a step, once you go to the approve tab you have to then highlight what you want to edit then the edit tan will appear in the corner.

I'm sure this guy has a opinion.
6/28/17 2100. HWY 17 390 KM stick. It just happened, and it keeps happening. That's some serious momentum but truck has a pine fresh smell nowDave_in_AZ and x1Heavy Thank this. -
Qualcomm?
Go to the HOS part of the elog. Go to the part where you have to approve your elogs. You will see the last change of duty status listed at the top. If you dont see the part where you left it on duty when you fell asleep, it is because you havent changed duty status. Go OFF DUTY and then go back to the approval page. Now, you should see all of that time ON DUTY. Highlight that part. An EDIT button should light up. Click EDIT. That duty status start time and end time should be listed. Where ON DUTY is highlighted, scroll up and click OFF DUTY. Click SAVE CHANGES. Next page, reason for editing will appear. Put any symbol there you want. Like the @, # or anything. Then click SAVE. -
E-logs will quickly eat your time if you don't learn how to edit them. I forget to switch my status all the time, and edit mine 2 - 10 times a day. I like the way that the qualcomm automagically changes your status to off-duty when you turn the key off, my current RM doesn't do that which is what causes me to do the editing.

I have irregular sleep patterns as well and don't know if I should even be thinking about getting into the business. Does a scenario like this ever happen? Just using round numbers, let's say you arrive at your destination at 10 pm and the crew that unloads it doesn't show up until 6 am. The dispatcher tells you that the next 8 hours is your time to sleep, cause once unloaded, he has a run that will keep you busy, and awake, for the next 12 hours and there won't be time to sleep during those 12 hours and still get that next load delivered on time by 6 pm that day. But you're not sleepy at 10 pm, so you sit in the cab or a truck stop for 8 hours doing whatever, wide awake. Then come 6 am, you're ready to sleep but can't. You have to drive the next 12 hours sleep deprived. This wouldn't work for me.
Not having had experience and knowing nothing about the logistics, I don't know if time cushions are always built into travel time estimates, from pickup to delivery, such that a driver can always at least catch a couple of hours if need be just to stay safe, holding them over until they can get more than that.KB3MMX Thanks this. -
Thats trucking. Especially for a company driver.
And scenarios like that is why our current HOS do more harm than good.
HurstDave_in_AZ, KB3MMX and RET423 Thank this. -
I've pretty much quit taking anything that requires big sleep schedule changes. I feel like crap and it's dangerous so I don't do it.
In the past, daytime hours I've had the same trouble sleeping and melatonin helped me get sleepy to stay down more than 45mins.
.IluvCATS Thanks this. -
Bingo!
That is why paper is far superior and this ELD crap is dangerous.
My sleep is fairly similar how i liked to work before and feel rested.
This ELD makes me tired all the time. -
Sometimes you just do what it takes. I normally run dayshift but there are occasions i have to get up earlier or run through the night.
Shat happens in this industry and you have to be prepared.
I wasnt able to get my first stop off in baltimore md earlier this week before the ports closed up. Parked it early and next day had to make 2 drops and a pickup in camden nj. By the time i was tarped and ready to go it was rush hour around philly. Still had 3 hrs on the clock but best case was a pilot with 30 truck spots. I wasn't sure id get there or if there would be any parking by the time i got there. Parked early again. Wasnt going to waste time in gridlocked traffic.
Skated through two night runs and kicked the load off this morning on my way back to the yard.
Had two and a half days off last week and again this week. Feels like im part time truckin! -
Choose a job with the flexibility to drive when you feel like driving.
Running Coast to Coast I would wake up and go to sleep at the same time everyday.
Running local I wake up and go to sleep at the same time everyday.
