Strategically playing the loadboards...& also developing relationship with brokers.
I use the 80/20 rule.
80% of my loads come from 20% of my broker list. They know that when I run, I RUN, therefore when I ask, I get.Lite bug, trucking.shine, PPLC and 2 others Thank this. -
People with freight, probably.
In all seriousness, there's a ton of information that's been posted on these forums for getting loads, and at decent rates. Probably not the greatest etiquette to just ask a dude where he's getting his freight. It'd be like me asking @boredsocial for his customer contacts.DSK333, spyder7723, Feedman and 2 others Thank this. -
Who are your customer contacts and what do they move again?Tug Toy, spyder7723, PPLC and 1 other person Thank this.

Obviously, I was joking... But averaging +$3 x mile under 10K lbs is more than decent to me.
-
I'll show you mine if you show me yours.
spyder7723 Thanks this. -
Honestly 3 a mile gross rate is nothing to get excited about. It would have to be a coast to coast run to even be decent on that rate.

You do flatbed right?
Also, you are seasoned in trucking. I'm less than 1yr old, so it's only up from here.
My cost is less than 0.80cpm. My fuel is at 24cents/mile. As long as I'm beating Mega's I'm good. -
Thats some killer low fuel cost. I'm hovering right at 35 cpm.
-
I do not fuel at truck stops, and keep it pegged at 63-65mph. Truck + Empty trailer + 250 gals fuel weighs 29K. Never idle.Lite bug Thanks this.
