More like the engineers haven't figured out that trucks need at least two lanes to get around the things unless they've got a decent diameter to them. My dad was talking to a couple road guys up in Minneapolis, they were saying they can't get snow out of them things apparently.

Appreciate that. I hate round abouts. Was never really sure if I could block both lanes. I would take the outter lane and drag my tandems in the inner lane. Then I'd take the inner lane and drag my tandems across the curb/or whatever is there flowers, etc..

I will hit my 4-ways and take the outter lane and drag my tandems through the inner lane. A lot of the round abouts I have taken are 3 lane even. I would take the middle lane and my codriver would be like... this is the worst lane to be in! But the 4-wheelers were gratefully aware of my situation and gave me my space and I proceeded without incident.

Fortunately every time I have had to do this, I have had 4-wheelers aware of my situation and have given me my space. But I know at any time that can change and have a new driver or just some goof ball that doesn't get it.

They built one in North Little Rock of all places under the rail bridge by the river. Takes a bend out of a 4 lane divided. It's stupid. But it's there like it or not.

Here in a he US, the major problem with the round a bouts they build, is the size. Most are too small of diameter, not just for trucks also for the general traffic they will handle.

Talking w a MN trooper he told me they realize trucks need to use both lanes of a roundabout and the dot designed them so you could and should use the apron for your trailer, but that state law says nothing addressing the use of both lanes by a tractor trailer specifically in a roundabout.
You could be ticketed should an incident or contact occur in one.
As others have said you need to watch the mirrors for the idiot's trying to squeeze thru.
