He said neither antenna had a nylon washer:
Quote: "No washer on the antenna the other antenna didnt have washer either, don't have a SWR meter. I'll install a plastic washer and see what happens." -
Buy a SWR meter, cheap tool that will pay for itself many times over and eliminate guessing.
-
Installed the nylon washer, helped alittle. A buddy of mine has an SWR meter when I get back from vacation he said he'll tune it for me. RIGHT the other ant. had no washer or no nylon washer and worked fine.
Jazz1 Thanks this. -
Nylon washer between ant stud and mount"HAS" to be there to work..Otherwise your ground out the ant which will mess up the radio after awhile..
On some ant there is a rubber o ring but thats just to keep it snug and water tight.. -
Like I said nylon washer helped alittle buddy is going to tune it with his meter. Thanks.
-
Shouldnt be a little..Should not work w/o washer between mount and top part of ant stud..
Google a pic of ant stud to see.. -
I did install the nylon washer and it does work but has some static.Especially when I wind and unwind the electric tarp. So my buddy is going to tune the CB.I"ll take a pic of the antenna mounted tomorrow Thanks.

Clean your grounds, you now have a grounding issue, cant tell exactly what you need without seeing it, sugest take the mirror apart and clean up the install.
-
Tuning the radio is not gonna fix that..Just unhook the cb coax and unwind the tarp..If the noise is there still you likely will need to run the radio direct to battery, its a possible fix...If its not then its antenna related..
