Me and my Wife went and saw Bobby Bare tonight. He always puts on a great show. Hes a character. Real nice guy

 

I get a nice load to Mr. Musk's place up in Sparks,NV Monday morning.

 

This dry van stuff is so friggin boring. I think Im actually having withdrawals from not pulling a skateboard.

Rolled 667mi today from Ozora, Mo to just S of Dallas on 35. Headed to Austin for a drop off then home to SA for a couple days.

@Gumper did I see you hauling a load of Can Ams eastbound on 30 around Texarkana today?

 

Depends on how far you go.... basic inframe kit your looking around $2300 - $2700 at Cummins. Heads are just over $700 each. I lucked out and got all 3 heads at a machine shop for $300 each. Injectors $75 each in Texas.

Can't say what the timeline is right now (probably at least a few years) but the desire to have my own truck is growing. I was looking at it before getting into the industry, then realized it was a lot of extra work when I could barely manage a 14 hour day, but now the drive is back and I'm seriously considering it.

At this point, probably would look at a late 80's 359 or W9 with a BC just for the sake of them being cheaper out of the gate. Everyone wants those B models and sellers know this. I've seen some gorgeous 359's with 400 BC's for less than $30,000 US. My dad even said that if I come to him with a solid business plan, he'd lend me the money for the truck.

For right now I'll stay as a company driver, since I've got it good where I'm at and don't think financial uncertainty is what my wife and I need when going about buying a house. Because the thought of setting my own schedule and deciding when to take a week off and not need to "book it" is just too appealing.

 

@Zeviander sounds like you got a good plan ahead of you. You're a hard worker and i think youd do just fine when you do finally decide to make the jump into your own truck.

Just outta curiosity, any particular reason you want a Mechanical engine? Are you running OTR like you do now or would you find more of a local deal you think?

Had my plans made, bought the truck with a locked up engine and spent about 18 months building it mechanically from bumper to mudflaps. Take you time.
