3.42 gear ratio

I looked at the ratio charts for my transmission, rtlo41613, and 8th direct ia direct and 8th over is .87 overdrive. I'm about 1,600 rpm at 65 mph, which is right where I want to be. So I calculated that 3.42 would allow me to run in direct instead of over. Perhaps I'll get even better mileage than I get now.

See I like lower. I'm at 1500 to do 65. 1300 to 1400 is the sweet spot to squeeze that diesel.
My one Cascadia with 3.36 would run at like 1375 to do 65. -
I have 3.42 meritor rears. I would never buy a truck with Dana/Eaton rears because they gave me hard time in past. 3.36 or 3.42 are ok if the truck will ran in Midwest.

Found a 14’ with a 240”.Has 619k.Is that too many miles? 505Hp DD15.Asking 42900. -
Depends. DD has some fatal flaws, and some big ticket items.
That's the milage where the "one box" goes south. $12K repair.
Trucks are super expensive right now.
I bought mine just before President Trump lit the economy on fire.
Mine had 399K miles. All new rubber, Yoko's not garbage, I have an APU, was $42K.
I have a Cummins, no one box.
Check Freightliner of the Northwest & Freightliner of Arizona. -
Lone Mountain usually has a bunch as well, don't know the milages, but price is at least reasonable.

What are the flaws? I’m wanting to delete,so the one box might not be a problem if I get to it fast enough.

Oil pick up tube falls out, and spins the main bearings.
It's made out of plastic and snaps off.
That has to be changed.
They leak a lot. Everywhere. Like $8K to have the engine regasketed.mhyn and Dadetrucking305 Thank this. -
Is there a different oil pickup tube? Are the leaks very common ?
