Update from the road, well the trainer and I left VanBuren went about 1.5 southwest dropped an empty and picked up a load going to cleveland. When we hooked up found 1 tire off the rim and another low all tires were very worn pulled back to terminal got there they changed all 8 tires on trailer in about an hour or so. Then we headed out. Drove to just past Little Rock and stayed the night. Trainer drove out and to the West Memphis terminal where I praticed backing between trailers and we fueled up. I drove out of West Memphis and to Murfreesbrough Tenn stopped for a snack drove up Mont Eagle and back down was sort of nervous about that my trainer said I done good. Drove in to Cleveland and here we set oh thats right wherehouse wont open till monday morning. We are in a 09 prostar a really nice truck.

I was married with 3 kids when I went through driver solutions to start work with USA Truck 2 years ago. I was at the school in St. Louis and it wasn't bad, the hotel was nasty and substandard but I too toughed it out. After starting with USA things were good at first, orientation at Van Buren Arkansas and in a truck the same day I finished Orientation. I nice truck with less than 100,000 miles. First 3 months I drove approx 3000 miles a week at .28 cpm however after I was raised to .32 cpm things started to go down hill. I had a lot of drop and hooks first three months then after raise no more, all live loads and unloads and sitting waiting on loads for days at a time. I was in Texas for two weeks, short low mile loads and dead heads. I was told when I started that I would work 4 weeks MAX and 4 days off, one day for every week up to a max of 4 days off total. However I was forced to run 6 and 7 weeks at a time at some points and only allowed exactly 4 days off and sometimes called back at 3. i was also told I could have one personal day a month when I would be gauranteed the day off I asked for thing such as birthdays and what not..... Never made it to these asked days, was told that only had to be allowed home with in 48 hours of that requested day. Well after 6 months with the company I was sitting in Ohio at a USA terminal waiting for a load, after the 2nd day and numerous times of the same situation and being out for 5 weeks, I called my dispatcher and informed them I'd be leaving my truck and going home. I was told to turn the keys into the maintenance garage and clean out truck and I'd be reassigned a truck if I decided to come back. I rented a car and headed home. Now you guessed it, I am fully responsible for the cost of the Trucking school, the lodging and a penalty to come to the grand total of $7200!!!! Now to top it off try to find a OTR job with only 6 months experiance!! I finally found a local job driving local for a company being paid hourly but its seasonal, I work 8 or 9 months then off 3 or 4. i make more a week this way but it still doesn't qualify for OTR experiance and isn't as stable a job as is needed in this time of the economical depression........ I do regret leaving USA only for the fact I owe for the school and not enough OTR experiance..... I guess what I'm saying is, if you commit to a company for the schooling you should stick with it for the minimal of the year to pay or as stated in your agreement and at least the year for the experiance. I wish I had..... GOOD LUCK AND KEEP YOUR HEAD UP..... Did I mention the time away from my wife and kids costme a divorce as well, or at least didn't help!
