I've made 5 trips into Ontario this month and didn't see them checking anything . But here's the site on it . http://www.mto.gov.on.ca/english/trucks/trucklimits.shtml . I've heard there are a few tricks around it . When setting the limiter if the technician enters an improper tire size or axle ratio in the data you will be able to drive over the shown limited speed . Say you have 3:90 rears and 4:10 is entered in the ECM . It will adjust rpm to match the limited speed with 4:10's but you will be exceeding the limited speed at that rpm with the 3:90's . Of course I just stated that to show no system is foolproof . I know none of you would actually do that .

Another thing I learned was if you have a 13 speed the limiter only works in high gear . You can win an elephant race by dropping down to 12th . :biggrin_25525:

SuperCoops in Sarnia and Windsor are already equipped with handhelds to access the ECM on all heavy trucks. For now, till July 01, they will be doing "soft enforcement". So, if you are not locked, they will give you a warning. After July first, ticket....if they figure how to work the handhelds....I've seen some stupid people, but they take the first prize. I was held in Windsor supercoop for 4 hours while he was trying to get in my ECM...and then let go...
I have the same handheld like they do, and I showed it to him when he was trying to get in my ECM. He asked me for a password, and I told him that I forgot...
Not my problem if he can't check my ECM...

The law states that ALL trucks must comply. that it must be a permanent setting. If u get caught doing over 105k it is double the ticket. If your truck is not compliant by 07/09 they can impound your truck for up to 15 days. And no they don't care that you are an American or not. they will and can still impound it.

It does not have to be permanent . You can have the capability to reset it when you leave Ontario . They will NOT impound trucks . http://www.cbc.ca/canada/toronto/story/2008/03/19/speed-limiters.html . Please verify info before posting .
