    It's pretty bad. Built in the 60's about 650 foot of bridge fell over 300 feet into a industrial park and apartment buildings under it. Television says 30 dead so far.

    It may be years before they replace something like that if they should at all.

    More engineers with degrees from the Florida International University?

    I don’t mean to make light of the catastrophe but it seems many engineers and designers are pressured into focusing too much on aesthetics and uniqueness, and ignore proven design concepts to satisfy political interests.

    Drove over this bridge several times in my life in the late 90's. Genoa has a few more scary bridges than the collapsed one, was surprised that this one collapsed. At least 35 people lost their life, many trucks were on the bridge. RIP drivers.

    it's Italy. can happen. corrupt politics, corrupt construction companies, local mafia, not enough cement and still were used... rip innocent people.
