Just great more junk from Ford and not made in the USA .
-
Looks just like every other wannabe pickup on the market. I don't understand why all the manufacturers keep making their pickup trucks look progressively more wussified with every re-design.
-
Actually it’s scheduled to be built at Michigan Assembly Plant in Wayne in November. It’ll be different from the Ranger model sold overseas.

That's $19,000 more than my dad bought the Ford Ranger for that's parked in my garage right now...brand new out the door with title, taxes, and tags included. With pricing like that, they're going to run into the same issues they had towards the end of the Ranger's last run...if they are priced similarly to the low-end F150, WHY would anyone buy a Ranger? Used to be a cheap, fuel efficient truck for those on a budget that couldn't afford a full-size truck. Now, it's the same price...similar fuel mileage...smaller and less capable. I just don't see too many being sold with that price tag. Knock $10-15K off the "base price" and offer a bare-bones "base model" that is really affordable...and then go up from there WITHIN REASON! If the desired options put the mini-truck too close a full-size truck with an acceptable options package on price, most people will opt for the bigger, more comfortable, more capable truck.
Then again, people buy the "smart car" ...so i guess you just don't know anymore. Common sense seems to have gone out the window.austinmike and AModelCat Thank this. -
You just answered your own question.
The average going price for an F-150 nowadays is around $40,000,not including taxes, title and licensing fees.
Remember when the F-150 was redesigned,Ford originally wasn’t planning on bringing the Ranger back,as their marketing staff figured that people who used to buy Ranger pickups would step up to the entry trim level of the F-150. But the F-150 for some folks was too much truck, plus the prospect of shelling out close to $40K was a hard pill to swallow for some customers. As a consequence, some of those customers went with smaller, more reasonably priced mid-size pickup trucks like the Toyota Tacoma,Nissan Frontier and Chevy Colorado, just to name a few.
Ford is trying to regain the market share it lost when those previous customers shopped other brands. And nowadays the company is even more focused on pickup truck and crossover vehicle sales since they’re planning to phase out most of their car lineup.Last edited: Aug 14, 2018

Starting price for an F150 is only $2300 more than the starting price for the Ranger. Perhaps the "average" F150 sells for $40K...but they also can be spec'd upwards of $60-70K with all of the bells & whistles. Somebody on a budget isn't going to buy that, though...but if given the choice between a compact truck for $25,400 or a full size truck for $27,700, most people are going to buy the full-size F150 over the smaller Ranger. -
I'll never understand why anyone buys a new vehicle at all. Every one of them, no matter the name are seriously over priced and just about every redesign is plagued with recalls.
John A. Thanks this. -
And as I said before the F-150 is too large for some people so Ford needed something a little more “scaled down” to cater to those customers.
Bigger isn’t always better-and Ford learned that the hard way when they killed the Ranger the 1st time with no true direct replacement at that time, plus the EcoBoost engines in the F-150s weren’t as economical as the company had hoped. This isn’t the 1980s anymore where brand loyalty took precedence over operating economics. It’s a buyers market where if a manufacturer doesn’t have a vehicle that doesn’t fit my needs,I can cross shop brands who do have one(and I’ve been seeing A LOT of “Tacos” and Frontiers on the road-where as 25 years ago Rangers and “S-Dimes” were the weapons of choice in the compact pickup world, with the occasional Mazda B Series or Hardbody in the mix).Last edited: Aug 15, 2018

Blows me away. I paid $7200 for a brand new Ranger with auto, air and alloy rims in 1990. A bare bones F150 was twice that at the time.
