Tell him we need more pictures to be able to form an opinion.

Starting to look like a Western Star ?

Somewhat. I think different headlights and a less-square edge on the front fender would look better. But I get why they used the same headlights as they do on the T880S.

Heard a guy on the radio the other day talking about the 389. said he didn't look for it to be around much longer because it's getting harder and harder to fit all the emissions aftertreatment under the narrow cab.Tug Toy Thanks this.

Actually that's not the reason at all, the new emissions have been engineered smaller and more efficient. (2018 and newer trucks). The reason is money and market share. Paccar want's the "B" cab gone, that's the cab that all the trucks used. The T-600, T-800, W-900, T-660, T-300, T370, 379,389, 386 ETC you get the idea. They are all hand built still, the new cabs are still put together by hand for trim work and things, but they are now more robotic assembled and cheaper to manufacture. Paccar is betting on the decline of the main buyer of B cab "large car" O/O's. This is why all the cabs are now the new style and they are fading out the B cab. (Plus let's face it a lot of you guys and gals can't fit between the seats of the B cab).
I personally think the new T-680 is a sweet truck and it was needed in their line up, but I love the "B" cab T-660. I'm actually in the process of buying a used 16' T-660 this week knowing it's probably my last, it was moonlighted last year. It's literally market share and cost.Tug Toy Thanks this. -
389 is the 379 minus headlights and minor changes exact same, cab sleeper, and chassis. The 579 is the same as the T680. The 567 is Peterbilt's version of the W 990, the 567 has been out for two years now I think.Tug Toy Thanks this.

567 is sloped nose set forward axle, more like the T880S. W990 is exactly what it appears to be, the replacement for the W900. This move has been coming since the introduction of the 2.1 meter cab, that’s what they call the new cab. Just like all previous models were built using the B cab, so all future models will be built with the 2.1 meter cab.

I don’t see PB pushing the 567 as their “premium hood” truck, I have a feeling they’ll announce a big hood wide cab replacement for the 389 before too long.Bean Jr. Thanks this.
