Yea well hope to c back here soon...I'm still here but don't know for how much longer..Losing my grandmother this past week really put things in perspective for me..I spend entirely too much time away from my family and the thing is that when you r a trucker that is expected to a certain extent..I just don't think my mother can handle things right now on her own. This has really tore her up bad.I try to tell her that no matter what I'm still just a phone call away. I can't just quit my job.I love my job but I also love my family. It's a hard decision at times.

Sry about your loss. New relationships, deaths and births are the hardest things for us to deal with out here. Even the hardest drivers have to admit that one. Good Luck to you and the family and remember your extended family are always there to support you.

This. 1,000 times this. -
Bunny you are on my prayer list. It is hard to BE THERE for everyone with the job we have. I pray God will help you be what you need to be for your family, and that He will guide your decisions about the future.

Well everyone...Sorry I hadn't been posting lately..But with everything going on I have had alot of things to get use to since my Nana passed..But I am still holding it together and trucking it up..That's what my Nana would have wanted..I'm heading to Miami...Have to deliver there on Tuesday morning. Maybe I'll hit the beach for a few hours and walk barefoot along the waterline..

Hey there everyone!!! Guess what?????? Bunny is still here and going strong.. Still here at celadon unfortunatly.. Things are really hard and I have so wanted to quit this company so many times in the past 3 months it's sad... I still have the same driver manager and he is still great.. But he has his hands tied just as bad as we drivers do right now.. My miles have been down so bad I have had to give up alot of things that I am use to having.. All the way from new shoes to getting my nails done... Sometimes I can't even pay my bills ontime.. It's bad here right now.. I professionally think buying continental was a huge mistake too... We are just not making it as a whole company anymore... Everyone is out for themselves and their " favorite " drivers... And everytime I turn around something is changing within the driver side of things.. I am disgusted with the changes that have been made to our pay rate and the fact that Celadon has also cut our bonus 40%... The reason... So we can stay in business... Not true... We are still a profitable company and still have decent customers with freight.. Drivers are leaving here and going other places and making it just fine.. Our preplans are getting few and far in between with alot of sitting time and no pay... Idle aire here is a thing of the past.. No more idle aire paid by the company.. So when the driver idles they get in trouble and wrote up...( sounds like we got took over by swift in that dept) It is getting rough over here.. I'm still here and sticking out because I am a loyal driver and I know how it was when I started here.. It was a top of the line company.. It still has the potential to be that again if the management would quit pushing the senior drivers out the door and hiring 50+ drivers a week to put in trks that we have no freight to move them in... Anyway, just thought I'd update this a bit....

Bunny it is so good to see you again! I came off the road after Memorial Day to take care of some family issues, but am not really making it in the office work. Not enough money. I knew it would be that way, and figured I would just have to get a second job. It's not like I am not used to working long days with little sleep! Anyway, I hav ebeen checking things out the last couple days because I don't want to go back to the company I left. They run strictly northeast and back to Omaha, which works out except when the dispatcher says "find somewhere to park and sit while we find something to get you back here." Right, in the northeast! "Somewhere to park" is easier said than done! It was fine when I first started three years ago at that company, because we had preplanned loads every week, so we were in and out of NJ, etc. with none of this "find somewhere to park" stuff. The last few weeks, I sat 3-4 times overnight at the "somewhere to park" places. Anyway... one of the companies we were talking about was Celadon, and I have been wondering how things were there, so your post is timely to say the least. Knowing how excited you were about them before and seeing this now I have taken them off my short list!
I did talk to a Celadon driver on the road a couple months ago who said he had been averaging about 1100 miles a week (!) and not making it, and that Celadon had taken away the bonuses/vacation time for which I had put them on my list before. Now your post sounds like Celadon is just waiting for the flushing sound...

Well, I'm sorry to hear that u won't be joining the sad likes of us!!!!! LOL We are still a good company just on the slide going downhill for a bit...Yes they did take 40% of our bonus and they took idle aire and froze our pay and stopped matching our 401k... I don't think I'm missing anything.. But then again, we never know til the last minute...

Bunny did you ever stop in brevard county fl?

I am a former Celadon driver and have read your posts. It is sad to see how Celadon has changed. Most of the changes began when Steve Russell started giving his sons more control. Unreal the bonus's the guys get but the drivers are getting everything cut.You can find their bonus pay if you look up the Celadon stock prices and just follow the links.
When I worked there I really thought I had found my spot. I had NO intention of leaving. However, the miles started dropping, preplans became scarce, idling became an issue, etc..Idleaire was FREE when I started they then cut it to driver pays 1/2..No, not this driver. Sorry but I don't use any of the stuff idleaire offers except heat or air so I would NOT pay!
Anyway, at some point a driver has to make the call that their loyalty should be to themselves FIRST..The day I can NOT make my bills because of CHOICES a company makes that affect is the day I have to leave. Celadon is making the CHOICE to continually hire more drivers, not invest in APU's for the drivers, discontinue some of the perks that kept drivers satisfied. That is sad.
I wish you luck Bunny. I don't see where Celadon has shown any drivers that they are willing to change things EXCEPT for adversely.
