I looked into for myself here in NY. For the sake of being able to say you had coverage, you use to be able to exempt yourself being the head officer of the company but no longer. Was going to run me close to $9k/yr based on a $30k/yr salary which is the minimum you can show. Thanks but no thanks

Don't know what to say. I have quite a few leased on to me that had no problem getting comp(except the rate) Some multiple trucks, some single that went corporation and payroll for themselves. Unless your trying to have yourself on a payroll for other reasons, just go with a good occ health policy. I've had a couple that had ooida's occ health and they ended up paying a lot out of pocket when injured.

I have a driver in the truck. I'm not even trying to cover myself.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
1099 or W-2? West Bend will sometimes write them (in WI) without being in the pool.

What state are you(not the carrier)based out of?
-
Arkansas

Try your state trucking association. But your probably gonna have to go with occ/ acc.
-
carrier should offer you workers comp and should not let you run without it ... and would more than likely be from the state they are based out of ... if you are from new York or California the best thing to do is just send them all your money with a letter to send back what they don't need. .... still probably get a bill back

Looks like its required in Arkansas if you have 3 or more employees with a few exceptions.
