Oversized load on flatbed hits overpass in Houston

What about the permit, if he was following the route the state approved the state is "also" at fault in my eyes.

 

Somehow I doubt he had a permit at all, and even if he did, I feel sure he did not have the height or the configuration properly documented .

 

And you would be wrong... says so right on Texas permits (going from memory as I don't have one in front of me).

But I am going to go with "no permit."

 

As DougA mentioned, it looks to be a de-icer truck loaded onto a flat rack for export.

 

That makes no sense. You’d load it for export once you got near the port, it looks to me like. Especially something that large.

 

I can't speak for how commonly or not this is done, but we package and secure loads to flat rack for export right at our terminals and warehouses.

Or this came in from the port and he's delivering it somewhere.

 

Winner. That would make it a DIVISIBLE load. You cannot permit a load for OSOW without the load being non divisible. Illegal as hell.

How much would a accident like this cost.
Would the insurance pay the whole tab.
What if it's a owner operator,
Would he have to dig Into his own
Pocket for a screw up like this.
