If you want unregulated hours then choose a career path that isn’t federally regulated, plain and simple. Doctors and nurses go to school for years, not three weeks, and they don’t make those life and death decisions on their own. They’re not in the operating room alone.

I never said that I feel regulated hours in our industry are inappropriate. I was simply pointing out that the 70 hour rule in particular does not make sense to me. I feel that it is an overreach of government regulation. As long as I am resting daily in an appropriate manner I can be safe the following shift. I have no issue with mandated breaks, but I would like to see more flexibility.

I always tell my doc, particularly the surgeon in Little Rock to hit me with that particular IV drug he likes to use. The hospital is down the block should I crash out with it. It literally does not matter to me if I died on the table.

He's a bit of a butcher, but really really good at what he does. There is alot that is possible to fix thank goodness. But it takes a really special person to be able to cut another human open with a knife and do a variety of other damage so they can reach the particular ailment deep inside a body enough to chop it out and fix the damage where possible. You are not going to find too many people able to do things like that.

Ive done enough roadside first aid on broken people where possible. It does not bother me anymore with the exception of burned children. Children should never have to go through that. It's not fair.

In my case it's more like 6 mpg in my old Cascadia.

Suppose I've burnt 55 hours so far and I have nothing coming back at midnight. A good load pops that is going to take 20 hours. That would only put me at 75 hours for the week, but I can't take the load. I had a good ten the night before and a shower this morning, but I still can't take it.

Or he could argue for a change in the regulations...

BTW, only a few doctors are surgeons. Most doctors do make their decisions on their own.

My experience with the health care system taking care of my Dad, doctors make suggestions, it's all in your lap.

If I use 10 today and get nothing back tonight I'll only have 5 tomorrow. That's five less than I need.
