Buy an older truck, pay cash and most of those horrible headaches go away. It can be a headache sometimes but that's the same in any business from what I've seen, and most other businesses seem to have about as many reasons for people to sue you.

Nope. Too many people have fleeced the industry down to nothing. Starting with the Mega trucking companies

I have never had a job that I couldn't quit than when I became an owner operator.
Your stuck with the job because of the debt the business brings and lost looking for a new career.

Me and my wife found a building that we are going to use to host weddings for a business. I can't wait to quit trucking

I'll have a CDL in a few weeks. Been driving with a permit for a few months now.

Yes, very. Most money I have ever earned. Will it be profitable for you?. Absolutely no idea as I don't know what your current income and expenditures are.

It can be profitable if you have lots of money and have mechanical skills. Oh, and lots of free time. ;-)

There is no shortage of drivers. That is something that the ATA and the megas have been saying for the 20+ years I have been out here. Every year over 400,000 new drivers get their cdls and another 60,000 drivers return to this industry. The training companies just can't get many to stay, given the low pay and terrible experience they get. The increase in rates that we have seen, and that seems to be slowing some, are due to market conditions and a tighter capacity.

    x1Heavy and Justrucking2 Thank this.

“Is owning a restaurant profitable? I hear there’s a shortage of restaurants?”

Only to those that understand PROFIT. I run a successful restaurant. But, before I owned a restaurant, I managed a restaurant. Before I managed a restaurant, I was the kitchen manager. Before I was the kitchen manager, I was the chef. Before I was the chef, I was a cook. Before I was the cook, I was the dishwasher.

What do you do in the restaurant?
