You know, compared to what I used to drive in the 70s and 80s, these new pickups are incredible. And I think they all are good.
@Ruthless mentioned the ride of the Chevys. Not having a moonbeam is one of the reasons I shy away from them; so many moving parts I wonder about durability.
I drive Ford now (since my first F350 - a 1995 crew cab). It was a terrific pickup that got used hard and only had minor repair issues like cam sensor, glow plugs, and the valve cover gaskets that had the wires to the injectors going through them.

Currently we own:
2005 Excursion that my wife will not part with. 280,000 miles and have had to replace 4 injectors
2005 F 350 that one of our employees drives. We bought it used and have replaced the rear end, new heads, and a couple of injectors. 286,000 miles
2008 F 350 purchased new. 305,000 miles. Replaced the engine with a reman from a Canadian company after the egr let loose and cracked heads (I hate egr).
2016 F 350 dually with 80,000 miles. It has an aftermarket bed on it and it carries my tools, off road diesel fuel tank etc. etc.. It weighs about 12,000 pounds all the time, and we pull a 25' gooseneck with often grossing 36,000. So far it has been perfect except for having to replace the frame mounted fuel filter housing due to excess mud building up and cracking it. I bought it new full with DEF, and haven't had to add a drop! It pulls very well.

We use these trucks pretty hard, and have not had any transmission problems whatsoever. We do change the tranny fluid and filters every other winter though.

One other reason I buy Ford is that they did not take bailout money.

I wasn’t questioning the reliability of modern trucks just the 6.7 Cummins specifically.
