How do you get a job as a truck driver with CN. They are number 2 in the top 100 for-hire Canadian fleets with over 7,000 tractors and trailers but only 103 employees. How does that work?
Trucks: 0
Tractors: 7,500
Trailers: 8,000
O/Os: 1,110
Employees: 103

My guess would be they hire through a driver service
Jazz1 Thanks this. -
I would guess that those numbers would include support equipment as well. Stuff like RGN's, winch trucks, large mechanic trucks, hi-rails, bucket trucks etc.

Drive with your eyes closed seems to be the overwhelmingly common trait.
There seems to be several distinguishing common physical characteristics too.magoo68, Sirscrapntruckalot, pushbroom and 2 others Thank this. -
Not sure what you mean.

He means most are new Canadians who are doing it as o/o for pennies.Canucklehead, Sirscrapntruckalot and not4hire Thank this.

It doesn't add up.
Over 15,000 units but only 103 employees and 1,100 O/O
They must have a lot of trucks idle sitting in yards.
I emailed them about a job and they directed me to their website career search page. I checked it out. There is NO option to choose "truck driver". -
CNTL contracts independent truck owner operators to move cargo between CN’s intermodal terminals and customer locations. Intermodal has grown rapidly in recent years and will only continue to grow. Efficient and innovative, it's generating new opportunities for independent owner operators.

What's not to understand? According to your post:
- 15,000 trailers
- 1,100 O/O (power units only)
- 103 employees (administration and non-driving operations)
