1. Attention employers: We now require a valid DOT# for anyone wishing to post a driving position. If your job offer doesn't contain a DOT number, it will not get past moderation and will not appear in the forum. The other requirements in the sticky at the top of this section are still required as well. Thank you for understanding.

How is the economy treating you as a driver?

Well I run dedicated so I deliver specific freight to the same customers. For the most part, everyone I deliver to is getting the same amount of freight. One customer however is getting quite a bit less freight...but then again, they are also my biggest customer I deliver to.

I also know on another route that one of their customers closed shop...so Im not too sure how bad our account is getting hit. We had a conference call last week but I missed it...would have been nice to get that update.

I know the feeling man. Seems to be harder and harder each day just trying to keep a positive attitude.

I'm a company driver and was doing pretty good runnin dedicated air freight in the northeast. Things have gotten soo slow we are now running ocean freight (that doesn't pay well) and getting paid half on miles. I used to go out 5 to 6 days, now its 3 to 4 days. Checks went from 1300+ per week to 420. It's bad out here!!! Almost not worth driving. I'm hoping March brings some freight.

Anyone out there driving for Stevens Transport (Dallas) if so are you getting the miles you need every week? All of the major company web sites I've checked still indicate
you can get all the miles DOT will let you drive in a week. I have had my suspicions if
this was ever true, it probably isn't at the present.

Thanks for all the good advice from all of you

Soo many drivers are jockeying for miles the companies are nervous. I mean, drivers are leaving companies they've been with in search for miles only to learn there are none elsewhere then they can't return (many companies have no re-hire policy operating) and this leaves them low man on the totem pole with a company that misled them. The trend I'm seeing on the road is , refers, tankers and the regulars in day cabs. I was at a truck stop off 95 before GW at 10am and it was 90% filled, when I woke it was packed by the time my 10 was up I had to get 3 different trucks to move so I could get out. I can't see any company feeding their drivers 2500 weekly (not on a regular basis)
