It's funny how selectively people pick their positions on things. When these Wall Street types are managing our money or pension plan we WANT them to be greedy, because that makes us money.

Not one person in Congress has brought up the fact that the vast majority of the senior management of these firms had huge personal positions in these companies stocks. They took a 70% to 90% haircut on their positions.

I prefer the guy handling my retirement money be as greedy as ####ing possible.

As long as you're willing to accept the losses, on your own dime and not mine. I have no problem with that,

But the majority of Americans, seek only to protect their assets for future retirement. They're not looking to get rich.

Anyone basing an early retirement on speculation. Then failing to freeze their assets, by removing them from high risk ares. Deserves what they get.

By the "greedy" standard. My dad has lost 10's of thousands over the years before the bubble burst. However, he was not caught in this bloodbath. His assets continue to make relatively the same amount, as before the "bubble".

The bubble burst has had ZERO impact on my moms assets and earnings.

My point was that we expect the folks managing our money to after every dollar of profit they can. Some call it effective, others call it greedy.
Would you be happy if your mutual fund manager decided "well, that's enough profit for the year, enjoy the 4th of July holiday everyone".

    Not really :biggrin_25525:

But the point of the article, is to recover bonuses from failed institutions who payed out bonuses.

This is a double edged sword for me. Personally, I don't think we should meddle in these types of dealings with profitable companies. And I think they should have went directly after the assets of the CEO who was paid the bonus, and the Board Members who paid him.

But once you give that kind of power to the Government. They will interpret it anyway they wish. Seizing assets and bonuses of anyone they want.

So the slide into socialism continues.
