As long as it has a couple showers and there's a grocery store nearby.

Nope. That pilot is the only thing there other than some random food trucks. Closest grocery stores are either an hour south in Pecos or an hour north in Carlsbad. I have been working that area off and on since 2013. The work and money are there but it is overcrowded, dangerous, and expensive. Last time I was in Pecos we had basic motel rooms that were $300 a night.

If I were to head to the Basin, I'd first get an RV. Some small Class C 20-footer. How are the RV parks around there? Assuming there are any....

There are a ton of them and all the ones I saw were full. I bet they are pricey too. It is hard to explain how busy that place is without seeing it for yourself.

My experience in Hobbs was to look for housing/rv places in the smaller communities around the main town. Worked in Hobbs but lived in Lovington, NM. About 20 miles away.

Good luck. I hear the one here in Goldsmith is $85 a day but I'm not positive. I have a camper here in Goldsmith since I'm hauling sand in a day cab. The fuel stops are a joke. Pilot in Kermit and Orla only have 3 showers in each location. There is another Pilot going up in Jal,NM. I may lose a load here and there since not running a sleeper but it's great to finish up the day and not have to wait 2 hours or more waiting to shower. Not gonna say anything on the food choices in the area. There are none in my eyes unless you truck on over to Odessa area. The money is not the greatest to me for what ya put your truck through. Fuel prices are stupid in this area also. I have a 2019 camper for sale if interested. The spot I'm on is $500 a month for everything. Was in a new park up in Carlsbad for a week,$675 plus taxes and metered electric. Great owners but we were not loading up there and the 100 mile bounce everyday was adding up with these non fuel efficient sand boxes. Good luck my friend

100% if you wanna live in a Class C RV. Of course, you'll have to provide said RV. I've lived in Class Cs before. It's not bad.
