Hi guys. New to the forum and soon to be O/O. At just under 3 years of OTR experience I was wondering if any of you guys had any tips for me. Its a 2015 Freightleiner with 590k on it. Zero interest for the first year with my company. Im hoping to have it paid off in 10 months or so. Im 28 with no family and healthy so I can run all day. Thanks in advance.
Advice for a new O/O

Sorry, the way I see it, if you have to ask you are not ready! However I am an old curmudgeon don't pay me any attention!SingingWolf Thanks this. -
I know of a couple of guys that bought trucks like this through the outfit I am with. Private deals, drivers had the title in little over a year. Depends on who you are dealing with. This used to be common practice in more than a few carriers. Have a good driver that wants to buy a truck and possibly leave the company, make a deal with him that suits both parties, win win. Good luck driver!Lepton1 and Farmerbob1 Thank this.

Learn the mechanical side of your truck, buy some tools, read up on diagnostics and how too, YouTube has plenty of videos. Rawze.com is another fantastic source, contact Rawze and ask for an invite.
And read this, fantastic information, really nails it. I know Rawze personally, he is the real deal. http://rawze.com/book/The First Time Class-8 Lease-Purchase Owner-Op Guide.pdf -
At this mileage that truck is just starting to fall apart, if you are lucky and make it a year without problems and paying it off, you will be facing huge repair/maintenance bills.
Or you might not get lucky and it will fall apart in 6 monthsmhyn, Samuelh and Justrucking2 Thank this. -
He might get it to 800,000 before needing to in frame it. Maybe a tad bit longer if he learns the mechanical side of the motor, learns how to maintain the emissions... Rawze.com is the place he needs to be to "fix" the motor properly, might see 1 million.

There's always the 1 guy that does squeeze through and really make it, but that's like 1 out of 100 that try it on a monthly basis... there's a lot more to it than just the truck... the truck is ONLY the beginning.
Justrucking2 Thanks this. -
Very true, this is not see one, do one, teach one...
