I just finished my second 34 hour restart in 4 days. Translation: It's bad. Bring lots of books, dvds etc, because you are going to spend a lot of time sitting in the truck stops. I'm coming off my 3rd 1800 mile week. I'm used to averaging 2500-2800. I don't want to discourage you, but it's bad. And it's not just my company that's hurting, it's everyone. I'd say half the customers I was picking up from 5 years ago are empty buildings when I drive by now. The last 6 loads I've hauled have been groceries. Apparently that's the only thing people are still spending their money on. Last week I went through my company's terminal in New Jersey hoping to get some work done to the truck, and couldn't because the mechanics were too busy stripping the decals off half our trucks. I'm just glad I'm not an owner operator with a truck payment to worry about.
Prime example of why Swift Drivers have the reputation they do!

Calm down, no body said ya'll were that way. But plenty enough of your fellow drivers are to give them a bad name.
Consider this...... YEARS before I got a CDL, before I ever considered getting a CDL, or even thought of driving truck.... I knew that Swift, JB, SNI, etc etc etc SUCKED.
There is a reason their reputation precedes them. For one thing allowing a 6 month old CDL holder to be a trainer is stupidity of the highest order. That is where many of their problems start.

LOL
What did I say about reputation? -
Or not. Up to you. It isn't going to change any time soon. Not for Swift, JB, or any of the others that keep up the practice of making a "trainer" out of someone with not near the experience needed to train. It's the blind leading the blind. -
You may want to try it!
Its pretty much the only way you will stop from reading posts Bashing your "Company" and the "Drivers" it creates...
Good luck with that -
Just left Swift after 2 years and couldn't be happier! Except for the first day, I hated every day I was there, but I stuck with it because I knew that I could get to a better place if I got the experience. It has paid off! Starting with Interstate in a few days. Of course, these days ANY job is a good one to have.
