    Yeah, theres no doubt, all serial ranges had some issues. Kinda a luck of the draw thing. 6NZ and MBN had many many many block problems with low liners and stupid saw cut heads. I personally think from the sculpted blocks I think there was issues. That's never been proven or anything, that was just my opinion.

    SDP had the latest 1 piece steel piston design. When those engines were completely deleted back to a 70 pin setup and use the good twin setup, they were good. But you had to do it all or just dont do it at all sorta thing with those.

    Notice where the bearings are made..??
    Cummins = India
    FM = USA

    Mains from India and rods from USA. Rods were not bought at Cummins.

    N14 is one of the best engines Cummins ever produced! That's why it went to the wayside..... nice having extra $$$$ selling parts, hard to sell parts for a solid engine.

    Bad thing is many tried to build to much HP and ruined them. Guy I know with a salvage yard has a bunch of crankless blocks, all because many didn't know when to say when.

    Wow. I don’t remember mine costing that much, but maybe it did. I do remember dropping a grand for Cummins head bolts. That was really the only thing I thought was outta line price-wise.

    I actually tend to agree.... but I can usually fix my mechanical Big Cam and bring it on in, easier and cheaper than a big electronic mess of an engine lol.

    Lot of good engines been built over the years, lot of good engines such as Cat, Cummins, Detroit, Perkins, been junked too.... but not because the engine was bad, only the owner / driver was bad lol.
