I'm heading to South Texas next week to haul sand boxes.
Could y'all let me know what I need to have for safety wear/gear?
I bought some steel toed boots this weekend but curious what else I will need. Coveralls? If so do they need to be a particular type like with reflective material or whatever? Reflective vest? Hardhat? Respirator? If so what kind/type? Anything else?
How's it going down there??
Thanks in advance!!!!

Are you going to be a company driver? If so, many companies will supply you with most of the required equipment
Lav-25 Thanks this. -
Sorta, Gonna be a "company contract driver" I think they call it.
Basically I will be driving for an O/O who has maybe three or four trucks and he is leased onto a larger company. The O/O will be paying me and the larger company will be doing orientation and dispatch to the best of my knowledge. I will be getting a 1099.
Got my boots and probably just gonna wait until I get there Monday.
I am assuming I can get everything I need there if they don't provide it.
Thanks!! -
You will be lucky if you are given a safety vest.
All the rest will be on your dime.rabbiporkchop, Lav-25 and tifosi Thank this. -
H2S2... Make sure you have a monitor and ask about specific wells if you are not familiar. The company should give you the monitor and you better ask. A few seconds exposure is all it takes. You will not even know you are dead, it is that quick.
rabbiporkchop and tifosi Thank this. -
I was driving third party for sandbox months ago and they're safety man wanted us using impact gloves especially on Conoco locations. Safety is mostly never there but if he is he'll right you up if he/she catches you with them.
The dude I drove for didn't give me nothing. You gotta have reflective vest, frs steel toe boots, h2s monitor, safety glasses, hard hat, impact gloves, that's pretty much it . Oh and shirt tucked in .tifosi Thanks this. -
I just read up on it a bit. Hydrogen Sulfide is some scary stuff, I will definitely get a monitor and take steps to avoid exposure.
Thanks!! -
So OP is sitting with the girl who's does their orientation or might just be finishing up.
1st off, OP didnt state he has his safeland/pec/rigpass cert. So they probably wont let him go through orientation. They specifically state you have to have this before orientation. If he did have his cert, he'd know what he needs for safety. They're serious about it too.
Like stated. Impact/mpact gloves specifically and other fr gear is required.tifosi Thanks this. -
Orientation, certification stuff starts in the morning!! Will keep y'all posted. -
Sandbox does NOT do your safeland/pec cert. They will tell you to leave. I watched it happen Friday.
rabbiporkchop and tifosi Thank this.
