Yep, from the windshield back they're identical inside but it did come with a light tan interior that wasn't available for the VNL's. A buddy of mine still has one with the Cummins,he's a heavy smoker so the light tan is now a puke yellow interior.

This was my last truck. 2007 with a natural 625 turned up to 700. 2250 torque, 22.5 tires, 3.21 ratio, 18 speed, auto chains too. Tare weight was, yikes, 23,230 lbs all in. All motor issues were taken care of, plus when I bought it it only had 45k on the inframe, total miles were 550k. Ran the mountains in BC. Wasn't governed and my sweet spot was doing 75 @1380 rpm. Averaged 6.3 mpg and I didn't drive for fuel economy, plus I always pulled maxed tridems (102,400 lbs gvw). Tricked it outside and inside. Sold it a couple of years later for $57,000 last year.
racemaxx24, bzinger, Socal Xpress and 2 others Thank this. -
One thing, if you ever buy an 880, do not put a full size Herd bumper on it. Mine came with it, but I hated it. The top bar over the headlights would cut off distance illumination. I could see the outline of the bumper ahead, but the low beams and high beams would cut off roughly 20 feet in front of me. Who knew that the Volvo headlights use every inch of their casing in order to see distance, because to look at it, they weren't blocked at all. In the mountains up here, there is zero ambient light. Was like driving blind. I did use the what Volvo calls fog lights, but all they would give me was a little extra vision at the sides out front. At least I could keep my eye on the fog line to see where I was on the road. Guys coming at me would give me long looks at their high beams because it turns out, those little lights on the lower bumper shone like nuclear lights cuz they were brand new. But it was nerve wracking and killing my eyes trying to drive and only seeing 20 feet in front of me. I did put aftermarket fog lights on it, and they worked way better than the oem ones. But they were Hella off-road lights. Slightly illegal lol. I mounted them on the Herd bumper. What I did was change out the bulbs for an amber ones that had the same mondo luminens, and put a yellow film on the light. DOT went duh, they're fog lights lol.
But one thing I always laughed at, guys would ask me what it was when they went past. Of course I never admitted it was a Volvo. The most often guess was it was a Western Star. And at night, nobody had a clue.
No Volvo shame!!! lolLast edited: Aug 23, 2018

I'm pretty sure I've seen your old truck a time or two...
Man I love those things and always wanted one. I would have loved if they still offered it in '14 when i got my VNL. I feel bad for everyone who got stung with the early D16. I love my D16H and wouldn't go any other route (I mean, unless a pre emissions glider) just wish it came in a nicer truck haha.Canucklehead Thanks this. -
When and where did you see it?

This was the truck when I bought it. The only external piece on it was the Herd bumper. Everything else I put on, including getting a black wrap put on because some twit before me used rattle can paint all over it (and had put metallic decals on while the paint was still wet - what a mess that's why the wrap). Had to dump more than I expected into it, like completely replacing the brakes (everything), having to redo the entire ABS system including the computer, etc etc etc. Put in a bunk and block heater. replaced all the batteries, new starter and alternator - would start after 3 months sitting lol)Spent many hours taking off lime green paint that covered the entire lower dash (used acetone, worked and retained the original tan color underneath). The interior got a wide screen tv, awesome sound system (ported labyrinth box with a 12" Soundqued in it - under the table, powered by an 1800 watt Hyfonics amp, all the others were infinity kappas with their own amp) full size 1200 watt microwave, 5000 watt inverter, and threw on a top line 4 bank marine battery charger, awesome, just plug it in and it did everything from full out charge to trickle to maintenance routines (hid it behind the stairs in front of the batteries - used the plug that was already on the truck there. Hah even put a sandwich maker in it and toaster oven. All the comforts of home.
But, was burned by two companies, as well as gamed and wasted a lot of time waiting by a few more. So, had to sell it. Too bad, I created the ultimate truck for a 244" wheelbase.
Oh, and had to replace the headlights too. Got 2 new ones for $650. Up here in Canada they went for $1200 each. -
Can't think of anytime in particular.... but it looks familiar. I'm outta kelowna and have been running the coast and kootenays for the past 12 years so I know I've turned my head and went "ohhhh ####, nice 880" as it went by how many times over the years haha

When I lived in Kelowna for 3 years I first ran coast rounders for a window company. Easy gig, dunnage going to the coast, maybe 12k coming back. Then I did midnight switches up at Rogers Pass for Kindersilly. Best time there and back was 3.75 hours. But don't try that at home kiddies lol

I purchased a used 2010 volvo 780 last year, the truck has been running in prairies . It came with Ali Arc moose bumper but i had to remove it on my regular route from Ontario to Laredo,Texas, The bumper bars are deflecting the airflow reducing about 20% of radiator cross section; down in hot Texas the engine won't cool down properly , fan engaging more often and AC doesn't work well.mp4694330 Thanks this.

My truck ran cool all the time, even going up the smasher in the middle of summer with a maxed tridem load. I did have a manual fan override, but I never once felt the need to use it ahead of a monster grade.
