So a guy who is trying to sell me a 2006 Cloumbia is alleging that it is California legal because Trump suspended the Cali CARB rules about non-emissions trucks. He says he's been running 2005 trucks into Cali without any problems. I am understandably sceptical. I doubt California would just give up their clean air program like that without a fight.

Have you guys heard anything about this, or is the guy wishful thinking, or just making stuff up to sell the truck?

I highly doubt Commiefornia abandoned ship on the CARB rules. Heck, according to prop65, the keyboard I am typing this on will give me cancer.

Well, you know what I respect that. States rights and all that.

Yea I'm fine with them deciding what they're requirements are too, what I don't like is them trying to tell every other state what they can allow. CARB seems to be where the EPA is getting their idea from to me.

I don't mind the way the other states are handling it. Require newer trucks to have cleaner technology but allow older trucks to keep running, I think that's fair. Gradual progress without forcing anybody out of their job. California pushes it too hard, but I guess I can see where they are coming from due to their geography. That LA pit would be completely unsurvivable by now if they didn't implement emissions Tech back the 70s

It just sucks for my friend in Vegas who can't afford a new truck and buying a pre emissions one will severely limit their load options on the Landstar board. Especially for getting home - it's a lot easier to find the load to LA than it is to find one to Vegas

Well by the constitution, states handed the right over for regulating interstate commerce because they wanted a level playing field and because of that reason, a truck registered to an owner in Michigan has the right to travel into California to access the markets there as does a truck from Georgia and without any special considerations like emissions.

California will allow us to ignore the CARB rule just as soon as they outlaw sanctuary cities and gay marriage. NEVER HAPPEN.
