I'm a Vietnam Navy veteran of six years. Our ship, the USS America CVA-66 (attack aircraft carrier) was my duty station. It docked in the Naval Observation Base in Norfolk, Virginia. They have been raising the piers there for years. The water level has risen quite a bit and storms are much more intense.

So you are saying the government is faking the flooding to raise are taxes? lol

That's brilliant...... the limit is the limit. It isn't a suggestion. It's clear and blatant instruction, in both black & white (literally). There isn't any grey area on the sign that says 'up to the interpretation of the driver'. Lol.

You can get nailed for 1 over just as easily as 15 over. Depends on the Officer, how bad a day he's having and how much worse you decide to try to make it. With that kind of stupidity, I'm not surprised your friend got hit for it.

To be fair, about 15 years ago the EPA did go to some states and demand they be more proactive in reducing industrial and vehicle emissions in certain markets. Having reduced speed limits was “strongly urged” if certain federal funding was to continue. The DFW metroplex was also one of these areas and for many years had a 55 mph speed limit. However this mandate was lifted years ago and they raised the speed limits back up.

Is that a joke or sarcastic statment?

If that was meant seriously,... well I'm going to reserve comment to avoid hurt feelings.

In Arkansas they have signs on the side of the interstates that state that no speed tolerance is accepted.

Back in the 55 mph era I received a expensive ticket for 1 mph over so it all depends on the officer, they just like fisher people, sometimes they catch one.

Not condoning speeding. I speed all the time and I know it's wrong.

How ever,.. I've never been fined like your friend and I have gotten speeding tickets in those states. Personally that EPA nonsense sounds a bit far fetched to me as do the excessive amounts on the fines.

Of course I always lawyer up and the tickets are either dismissed or reduced to non moving violations.

Either don't speed or have the money to pay a lawyer. Never blindly pay a ticket and accept what happens with out a fight. That's just dumb.
