Pitfalls from speeding

Believe it! There are crooked cops everywhere. Some are just there for a paycheck but most of them are there for the State and they're straight up thugs. I caught a 70 in a 55 in Ohio a couple weeks ago but I was NOT speeding. I've talked to numerous lawyers and have retained one as well. They're all telling me to basically bend over that it's going on my record unless something miraculous happens in my favor. You have no idea how bad I wanted to very bad things to that POS.

 

Your friend sealed his fate at that moment, telling a LEO what the law is and how to do his job. It was confirmed by other citations he received. Your friend learned the hard way, and I suspect he doesn't deal well with authority and is going to lose many jobs in the future. His experience doesn't translate into valid warning for the bulk of the driver population on this forum.
Whatever the posted limit is I follow it. In an earlier era, when I was young and stupid I would try to make time by pushing the envelope. Take the Smith System defensive driving course and they will prove it is an ineffective exercise in futility.
I don't question the why's and wherefore's of how the speed limits are set, I disagree with lots of them. But I also share the road with a lot of amateur drivers who shouldn't have a license, much less be allowed to drive the posted speed limit.

Just slow down and be mindful of the posted speed limits. Watch the downgrades on 81 and 40. They will sneak up on you really quick. Normally the VA troopers will sit in the cut out at the base of a downgrade. Just be careful and take it easy. The other night on 81 it was backed up for about an hour NB. Some driver rolled his rig. Going to fast. Slow it down.
