Lol... I've been complaining about 460 and 220 since I started posting for Millis many moons ago. Those two roads no longer exist in my world. I have and will drive another 75-100 extra miles to avoid them. No thanks.

I have been on that road where your close.
Scared the heck out of me first time -
VA doesn’t believe in shoulders much except on the big road.BazookaJoe Thanks this.

Try going 68, then 74, then 19 off of 75 south headed to Blairsville ga and then toward gainesville ga. I saw "Welcome to the appalachian forest" and was like oh boy.

Speaking of Virginia.... I just went by the Roanoke scale and got greenlit. Wth? That's never happened. I almost pulled in anyhow, I was worried it was a trick

Oh I'm very familiar with that neck of the woods... just not in a big truck. That's territory I explored a lot in my CJ5 when I lived in GA. I don't think I'd want to venture too far from GA515, US76, or US411 in a truck without some detailed directions and some time looking at the entire route on Google Maps. That 2-lane piece of 76 between 411 and Ellijay is pretty sketchy too.
It seems like nothing is really going right for me right now. Nothing big is going wrong, just small #### that's getting under my skin. I get down here to Eden (my first time actually going to the terminal here), drop my trailer, find my reload, and get ready to go fuel then head out. Problem is that I only have a little over 3 hours left on my clock, and as I'm sure you all know, there's pretty much zero parking options between Eden and the WV Turnpike when heading up 220 and 460. I'd planned on staying at that first service plaza just north of Princeton tonight, but my GPS says it's 3 hours, 45 minutes away. No bueno. Then I go up to the school to fuel. Pump is down. So now I have to spend even more time tomorrow doing things other than driving before I can really get rolling. I'd hoped to get this load up to Miller nice and early Monday morning. Looks more like afternoon now.
On a side note, with the brewery closed this is a pretty odd, out of the way place to have a bunch of truck terminals. -
Even if the brewery was still open, it's a weird spot for a terminal. Always hated Eden because access is difficult, and the fuel is 4 or 5 miles away. Never made sense to me. I was actually happy that the brewery closed. The trip from Trenton and back is rough on a student, or someone who just got their own truck. I did 3 round trip runs within my first 3 months. Two with my trainer and one on my own. Talk about being a complete nervous wreck. And two of those runs were in the dark both ways. That was no joke.Last edited: Aug 26, 2018

Yeah it's a pretty lousy run. I can deal with 460. Other than the aforementioned stretch between Narrows and the WV state line, it's not that awful. 220 is another story. Virginia should be ashamed to call that a freeway. I don't get the "Future I-73 Corridor" designation either. Other than the bypass around Martinsburg, that road will need a complete overhaul in order to be compliant with interstate specs. The lack of parking is also a problem. I mean other than a couple of places down around Martinsburg with 4 or 5 parking spots, and that Exxon in Ridgeway with the CAT Scale, there's nowhere to park. There's not even any exit ramps suitable for parking.
Also US-29 between Lynchburg and Danville = fkn joke. US-58 between Martinsville and Danville = fkn joke. US-23 from the TN state line to the KY state line = fkn joke.
Also I'd forgotten how pitiful the "new" 4-lane sections of US-35 between Winfield and Point Pleasant are until today. Shame on WV for that. There's no excuse. I'm pretty sure I bruised my kidneys today.Steelersjunkie Thanks this. -
Virginia should also be ashamed of how ridiculously long the construction zone on 81 is. Inexcusable. Fix a section and move on to another section. A 50 mile stretch of orange barrels is just ludicrous.

Okay, here's one for you guys...
That 17 or so mile construction zone on 94 running from just South of Oak Creek down, have any of you tried running the frontage road next to 94 along that stretch?
Twice in the last week I've gotten hammered in that #### construction zone. Google maps keeps wanting to divert me off and take the frontage road until after the zone is over. I can see parts of it and it looks like it would be fine from the parts I can see. You'd have to deal with the lights at cross streets, which doesn't seem to be to bad, and traffic on the frontage road is always moving.
Looked at my atlas and didn't notice anything about it being restricted (but I could be wrong) but I never see ANY big trucks on it, which makes me wonder.
