It could possibly be , but I haven’t touched it from this morning ... kinda gave me the red ### but I don’t think I did . The deck on the block was good , and the head is a bad Subject , I literally had to wait a month and they say there is only one more in the US as far as a Cat Reman goes . Yes I replaced water pump , oil cooler , and air compressor . I didn’t think anything about the block but did not see Anything when I was checking block with a straight edge . I only tore into it because it dropped a valve on #3 intake and while apart I wanted the piece of mind that everything was right .

No sir everything was original Cat parts nothing on the classic side
-
Yeah , there quality have went down for sure , I had and older 7FB and overhauled it with Cat parts and I literally could not keep the dowels in the head where the valve bridge rides and the thing about it was they wouldn’t stand behind it . Ended up putting a aftermarket head on it and didn’t have no more problems then
-
No you sure can’t blame him , after reading this and what superhauler said and a bad past experience , I didn’t check the dang surface on the Reman Head -
Hate to here these type of stories. Best is to pressure test it and isolate the leak. Might get lucky with an injector adapter leaking. Cat Reman, actually all reman seems to be lacking quality control. Keep us posted. Your gut feeling is probably right on this one.
wore out, BoxCarKidd and SAR Thank this. -
Getting to be a common occurrence lately... Look at me, CM-2350 parts installed in my CM-871... Can't make this stuff up.

I tell ya it’s just darn right frustrating , I would have went UTN be there where no availability on those . I see now why the previous guy had all kinds of different parts in the engine .

I am using IPD parts in a Cat in a overhaul I am doing now. Got a Cat head for it as a reman, but was brand new. Seems like seeing more and more new heads in Cat reman boxes.
Oxbow, peterbilt_2005, Diesel Dave and 1 other person Thank this. -
That’s great a new head for reman price , and yeah all of the older stuff will not pass there inspection on the castings so they are having to scrap them . Mine was unfortunately a true reman . I tried to price aftermarket just to compare prices when I started the build but our local aftermarket guy could not hardly get any info on the particular engine and his exact words was “ you have to get it from Cat “

Pressurize the system to see. May have to pull oil pan and or manifold to see where it is leaking. Good luck !
