I'm moving to southern ID in the next few months. I was going to C R E but not only have I heard they are not great to go too but not I learned they only train with automatics. My thought is that if I decide to move after my year to another carrier and they have no automatics I will be at loss. What are your thoughts?

Do not train with an Automatic only company.
Many states are restricting your CDL now if you test in an Auto.
I don't know how to get the Restriction removed it's better not to get the Restriction in the first place.tscottme, rabbiporkchop, Dino soar and 1 other person Thank this. -
I'm just concerned that I will not have the experience driving a manual truck since cdl schools are training for automatics. Why go to a school to drive a bike if your going to captain a ship.
rabbiporkchop and Lepton1 Thank this. -
DO NOT TRAIN on any automatic. train on a manual...

I know this is why I'm concerned Roehl, CRE are both using automatics Any suggestions for a good school that will have me a job in the Idaho region that will train me properly on a manual trans.

Plenty of Potatoes in Idaho when in season. Im pretty sure many of those still run Manual.
Autos are nice. But for a percentage of drivers it's a further dumbing down and loss of certain skills in a heavy vehicle.stillwurkin and Dino soar Thank this. -
I agree my fedex truck is a manual trans and so is my private vehicle but nothing like driving a heavy truck with 10 gears down a mountain side so I want to make sure I have the training
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
You are on the right track.
Once you have enough experience with a manual transmission if someone offers you a job for enough money you could go driving an automatic.
It won't work the other way around.rabbiporkchop, x1Heavy and stillwurkin Thank this. -
Heard said once, mayby you all heard it ?..know how to prevent you vehicle from being stolen? ..have standard shift in it.VIDEODROME Thanks this.
