Besides, they check other things in case of accidents. During stops, they look for receipts.
During the audit, they check everything on the load to the log. It is more about revenue anymore. -
panhandlepat Thanks this.

i think DOT is tellin us to keep things legal??
i heard that when the qc was first brought around that the DOT would not be able to do this... only a matter of time before we start running like one of the other countries, i forget what one, but that have alarms on the trucks to alert dot when a truck is " riddin dirty "
i guess here in the U.S we still work off the honor system.. i guess were lucky.
old timer' told me
" if you thought about, DOT is already 1 step ahead of you " im sure he's right. -
I just read a story where a driver was arrested for making a bomb threat at a chicken plant. I can't remember where I read it at but they caught him because he used a "pay as you go phone" and he was on camera refilling it. Somehow they traced where the refill card was purchased and obtained the footage.panhandlepat Thanks this. -
And he's right, the DOT will always be 1 step ahead of you... Even if they have to back step six months to get ahead of you! -

Kinda reminds me of a man who sent a bomb threat to the Pontiac Silverdome in Pontiac, MI. The police where able to arrest him a couple of hours later... He put his return address on the letter!
