Seen guys with super b logging trailers plumb the trailer suspension gauges up to the window in the headache rack. Not safe to be getting in/out of the cab while loading to check gauges. Pretty slick setup.

There is no way I’d pay over a couple hundred dollars for truck scales. Just get a air gauge and tee into the bag line. I can usually get within 500 lbs by reading the gauges. You just have to weight it a few times at the scale to know where your gauges read. All you have to know is what your gauge reads at max weight, and stay under that PSI.

For instance, a trailer I normally pull registers 70 psi on the gauge at 34,000 lbs (set of tandems). If I’m above about 68 psi, and I know I’ll cross some DOT scales, I’ll still weight it to be sure. It’s not super accurate, but it’s as accurate as the expensive setups you buy, because they are all reading the airbag pressure.

I’ve loaded by the gauges for years. It works well. However, as time goes by, more and more sand plants are making us stay in the truck while loading. Tractor bag gauge is on the dash. Be real nice to have that trailer reading on the dash too, so I can start honking and throwing a fit when they try to give me a double portion.

Frac sand pays by the load, not the weight. So it gains me nothing to load heavy.

I have the right weigh ones.. they are ok but really really sensitive on being level..Hard to find a level spot in the dump buisness sometimes but most places I load have a scale so I usually just load em within a couple thousands pounds and then go check to see where I’m at..

Inline tee, air hose and air gage. This entire thing can be done for less then $50.

    Thanks everyone for replying!

The reason I ask, is that I work now for a Freightliner dealership, in Fleet Sales. We have the option to equip (or suggest) LandMaxx Weight Systems. Being a former driver myself (four years OTR), I just remember the times where I was loaded and they completely messed up loading the trailer (looking at your Wal-mart), and not having a scale anywhere close.

So if it only cost 4-5k retail price (it actually costs less than a grand to install in tractor but I don't know how much on trailer). It still wouldn't be worth it? If not, then I'll make sure to steer drivers clear from it, if they ask.

4 to 5 k plus install. Does it have solid gold bezels? It can be done for less than less than $40 a unit with gauges.
I choose to spend $270 on a wireless system so I could check weight without climbing in and out of a piece of rolling stock while adjusting weight.

I'm assuming it's expensive to install on a trailer.... I know it only costs about 250$ to add on a truck, and be covered by warranty.... I was only estimating on how it cost to install a trailer.

I was estimating high because in business it's better to over estimate your cost than under estimate as you know. :)
