I don't know of anything that has as many unpaid hours as pulling a reefer. The customers have a hundred or more trucks per day. The customers reject freight more than others. You will see Wal mart & Tyson over & over & over. Think DMV customer service. If you want to stay active, do flatbed.

As someone with a mile or two of Reefer time I feel the need to ground this topic back to real. First there are no guarantees that you will only work at night. I did 2 to 1 deliveries during the day then night. Not saying you won't be doing night deliveries just don't get your heart set on doing that. It might get broke. In my case I did a lot of pickups at general Mills, Hershey and Mars. I did a good bit of Walmart DC live unloads. Just saying!

It's not much as love but part of life itself.

It's what some of us do. And those of us are lucky enough to put in many years without getting chopped up, maimed, disabled, hurt or killed doing it. (It's the almost getting killed part that's briefly exciting and scary at the same time...)

Anyone who puts in 18 years in this crooked screwed up regulated overdone industry I'll hire him or her in a heart beat. They probably will want .75 or more a mile. I'll just have to find them freight to do it.

As far as the boredom etc. I had that problem in dry van boxes. Slam the doors, get in and do a spot of driving. BORING. I solved that issue getting into reefer, flatbed, tanking most especially and containers. The flatbedding was most fun. The Phara and reefer was the perfect combo for me. It's not regular freight that any old driver can run. And it's not about going into stupid shippers or recievers intent on making you squat on your behind 2 days. None fo that BS. In fact, you are probably due back the next morning with another load up from Memphis. Get going. Yer late.

    =)

If I die sometime in the future. Put that Epitaph on my tombstone. Get going, yer late.
