    Hey Bill -

Actually they are mostly reefer, but they do some dry van stuff too. It is actually a lot larger than one might think, they do LTL, dedicated, logistics and warehousing too. We got the Grand Tour today and it was mind-blowing. I felt pretty good about the strength of the company going in, but after seeing the whole operation, I am feeling, shall we say, rather good about my decision.

And for the record, I talked to the recruiter today about future openings and he is pretty much full up through the end of March, but then things could change.

Nothing but good to say about them so far!

Congrats Scooter!!! Try to maintain that enthusiasm, as it WILL be challenged from time to time. Just remember the reasons you chose this path to begin with. You'll have many challenges ahead, weeks with few miles, drivers parked beside you in the truck stop playing their music very loud late at night when you need to sleep, rude employees at the T/A, dirty showers, etc, but if you remember why you are there, kick back with a good book and your favorite relaxing tunes in your sleeper, you'll be able to block those distractions out and actually enjoy yourself.

I almost feel jealous. I remember graduating from school a couple years ago and heading off to TMC. What a feeling. Enjoy yourself brother, and please stay safe out there.

Oh, but absolutely. Yeah, I am (I think) ready for "the challenge". No biggie, I am a rather tolerant person. Heck, I stayed married to the Anti-Christ for 17 years, so this should be a breeze..... hehehehehe

Naw, I am not making light of it because I have read a lot, and I have talked to a BUNCH of drivers, so I think I pretty much know what lies ahead regarding PEOPLE!

Tonight I am in Minneapolis and will be leaving at 5am CST for Syracuse, NY with my trainer. I have spoken with him in great length and he seems like a super guy. Plus, he and I have a mutual acquaintence, who also has nothing but good to say about him. So I am looking forward to the whole thing with no apprehension whatsoever.

So if you see a Magnum truck rolling east on 94, 90, or 80, give it a wave.... It might be me. And if so, I'll definately be waving back!

See ya soon (at a truckstop near you!)
    Arf!

Man, I can feel your excitement in a way. Back when we could park anywhere (almost) I'd skip the truckstops a lot because of the rude dudes - and as for reefers or now, APU's, I see it as a drone, a white noise that drowns out all the other crap, like morons who blow horns in the truckumups.

I can relate to not sleeping on a bus...I can't sleep sitting up either...and I've got a 2-1/2 day bus ride coming when I go to WS...sheesh, I'm takin' some sleepers with me for that one. Don't wanna be a ZOMBIE when I get there!

Good luck on the first trip out. I'd wave, but my arm would get sore, because I see Magnum trucks all the time. You guys do have very sharp looking equipment and great colors. To some, appearance is a small thing, but to me it does make a difference. When you are in Minneapolis, you drive right by me, so I will keep and eye out for a blue tick lab driving a big blue truck!

Thanks for the update and keep on posting.

    Hey There -

Things couldn't be better. Don't have much time to type because we are going to get an early start tomorrow.

Currently at the PA/OH border. Been getting a lot of driving time in and run through Chicago during rush hour, had some snowy driving, I-90 through Cleveland (boy that 35 mph curve was fun), and just learning a lot. It is true, the learning really starts after you leave school.

I have a fantastic trainer who thinks and talks in a language I can relate to. Great guy. Even bought dinner tonight and paid for my shower (a very welcome shower at that).

Tomorrow we will be sitting on go just outside of our Monday AM delivery. Not rushed at all. He seems pleased with my progress and I am rather pleased too. Hadn't run over any mini-vans..... a big plus.....

Anyway, All is Well, and I'll holler back soon.....

Ya'll be careful! (I'm out here too hehehehehehe)
