Anyone out there work for FedEx Freight in Tri-Cities Tennessee? Looking into a road driving position there, have interview this week. I am told starting pay is $21.18 an hour and mileage will be at about $.52 a mile. I am wondering what top pay is how long it takes to get there. I am also wondering what the working conditions will be at the bottom of the board. For example; drive an hour and a half work the dock nine hours and drive an hour and a half back? Or is it better?

When I was trying for FxF I went to the barn and asked a TM. Since you have an interview coming up, print your post so you'll have your questions in hand. FxF TM's were pretty straight-up with me.
Fishbait Thanks this. -
Yes I will take your advice and question the manager. But I want info from the drivers who actually work it every day. I’ve found most managers spew generalizations and all as flowers and sunshine. I’d like hands on accounts if possible.

Your top pay will probably be somewhere around $27 and some change mileage either .64 or .66 cents a mile.
Not sure how it works with new road drivers, but you will be on the bottom of the seniority list. Probably work on the dock for few hours then drive to another hub and come back. Hell they might even have you work in the city if they need you. All those questions you need to ask the terminal manager. Mine was pretty honest with me.Fishbait Thanks this. -
Thanks for the info. I just want to make an educated decision. I’ve got a pretty good gig now and make approx. $70000 year and day job. But if I can do $20000 better I’d be willing to work nights. I’d be giving up seniority and comfort of knowing what I’m doing. Decisions decisions.

What does via stand for?

It doesn't stand for anything--it's an additional stop. If your scheduled run is ABC to XYZ, and they want you to go to QRS on the way to XYZ, your via is QRS.

Sounds like a Waypoint.
